Our painting giant, Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka (1853–1919) traveled the world and painted with wonderful colors everything he saw during his journeys. In the Janus Pannonius Museum's most popular permanent exhibition, we can stand face to face with one of the most iconic Hungarian paintings, the legendary "Lonely Cedar," which everyone should see once in their lifetime. We can admire up close the gigantic "Baalbek," which in books is just a tiny photo, but here is a monumental masterpiece the size of a small apartment. From the Mostar Bridge through the Jajce waterfall to Castellamare, each painting guides us into a unique world.
The ground-floor temporary exhibition space currently hosts the Graphic Design Graduation Exhibition of the University of Pécs Faculty of Music and Visual Arts. Admission to this temporary exhibition is free of charge.
